This updated V2 version introduces a refined white electroplated tourbillon structure that more closely reflects the appearance of the original luxury timepiece, while the overall case thickness has been reduced by approximately 1mm for a slimmer and more elegant profile.
At the heart of the design is Cartier’s signature “Double Mystery Tourbillon” concept, where the flying tourbillon appears to float freely within transparent space through the use of an anti-reflective sapphire crystal rotating disc.
The sapphire disc contains a precisely cut opening matching the dimensions of the tourbillon cage, creating the illusion that the entire regulating mechanism is suspended in mid-air without visible support.
To achieve this visual effect, the transparent sapphire structure itself rotates continuously while transmitting power through a carefully engineered gear system positioned along the outer perimeter of the sapphire disc.
The floating tourbillon completes one full rotation every minute while simultaneously performing its own self-rotation, creating a captivating kinetic display that resembles a mechanical illusion.
The movement architecture is engineered with extreme attention to weight distribution and energy efficiency. Lightweight titanium components reduce rotational inertia, while a gold counterweight system ensures perfect dynamic balance throughout operation.
The watch features a 45mm case crafted from 904L stainless steel, paired with a platinum-style beaded crown set with a natural cabochon spinel gemstone.
The dial combines deep grey electroplated textures with a skeletonized silver lattice structure and sunburst finishing, complemented by black Roman numeral hour markers and blue steel sword-shaped hands.
Both the front and exhibition caseback are protected by sapphire crystal, allowing full visibility of the intricate movement and floating tourbillon mechanics.
