The RM 21-02 Tourbillon Aerodyne is one of Richard Mille’s most complex case constructions, combining advanced materials engineering with an aeronautical-inspired skeleton design. Its openworked architecture reveals a striking honeycomb geometry, emphasizing strength, lightness, and technical precision.
The case is built using multiple high-tech materials: green Quartz TPT for the bezel and caseback, Carbon TPT for the front and side structures, and Grade 5 titanium for the mid-case, creating a layered, futuristic aesthetic with exceptional rigidity.
- Movement: Manual-winding RM 21-01 calibre with 28,800 vibrations per hour and approximately 52-hour power reserve.
- Structure: Skeletonized baseplate made from high-performance alloy, laser-cut into a honeycomb pattern for enhanced strength and reduced weight.
- Design: Fully open dial exposes the mechanical architecture, showcasing the barrel at 12 o’clock and tourbillon at 6 o’clock, resembling a precision-engineered engine layout.
- Hands & Dial: Luminous-coated skeleton hands with alternating black-and-white hour markers for high readability.
- Finishing: Titanium bridges with black PVD coating, sandblasting, polishing, and hand-beveled detailing.
- Crystal: Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective blue coating on both sides.
- Strap: Fluoro-rubber strap with titanium inserts for durability, paired with an optional fabric strap for comfort and versatility.
